Inspiration #13

Fell in love with this picture as soon as I spotted it on Tumblr. I really love seeing stylish children. It's not very often that I get to see little girls dressed so adorably chic. I don't really expect 10 year old's to be aware of the trends and to wear Maison Michel headpieces (see HERE). When I was little I know I loved all things sparkly and I've seen some pictures with the outfits I used to wear that I would gladly hide in an attic and keep them there for all eternity.

However, it's obvious that most of these girls/boys are dressed up like this by their parents. The 100 point question is whether parents should do this. I mean, do these children really like the outfits they're wearing, do they know that they're actually wearing a three digit Chanel jacket? I know I would love to dress my child from lady Dior and Chanel, but is it really worth it?

I feel like I've digressed a lot. What I said in the past paragraph doesn't really relate to this picture, as you could easily achieve this look with H&M and Zara clothes. The question stands, but let's just go back to the picture and admire this cutie pie, which is absolutely gorgeous!

Top of the Morning

As you guys will be reading this post I'll be in a plane heading toward the Tenerife island. I'm very excited for this trip as it is my last proper holiday before leaving for Uni and my last week of sunbathing and relaxing near the ocean.

Today's post is nutrition related, as fitness and nutrition have become an important part of my daily activity. I don't really eat a lot of organic food and I don't take excessive care with what I eat ( I like to indulge from time to time) but I like healthy little treats that are easy to prepare. So every morning I try to prepare a different kind of smoothie.

This morning I went with mango-raspberry. The recipe is pretty simple as it was early in the morning and I was in a rush to get to the airport.

Wash the raspberries and add them in the blender.

Then do the same with the mango. Choose the amounts you like, depending on how many servings you want
Add a bit of milk or yoghurt, depending on how thick a consistency you want your smoothie to have
And voila! Your raspberry mango smoothie is done!

Do you guys like smoothies? And if yes, which is your fave recipe? I'd love to try some of yours!

Back to Basics

Autumn is slowly approaching and as much as I regret the end of summer I'm really looking forward to the colder seasons. In preparation for them I have started to crave for darker colours and especially burgundy and plum ones.

A few weeks ago I went into H&M with the specific target of buying some bobby pins and that's when I spotted the perfect basic t-shirt for this fall. The colour, the feel and the cut are absolutely divine and I love that it's not a tight fit, so I didn't have to go a size up. At first I thought it was a men's t-shirt but then I saw that it was actually in the women's section so you nailed it H&M as menswear for women has become a real thing.

What I love about this t-shirt is that you can easily dress it down with a denim jacket or dress it up by adding a blazer or a skirt and some high-heels. When I was little I used to love t-shirts, especially printed ones and as I grew up I gave the prints away but my love for t-shirts didn't diminish, it just altered by adapting them to a more stylish look.

What you have pictured in the gif above is a basic H&M t-shirt, matched with a statement necklace from H&M as well (another thing I loved about it is the higher neckline that is perfect for stacking different necklaces). I also added a denim jacket that is a DIY of mine.

So what are your staple items this fall?

Just settling into my usual city routine... Beware, these photos are meant to fool you. I might seem like an active person, the typical on-the-go girl but I couldn't be further away from that. Ever since I came back from the sea side I've spent most of my days curled up in bed watching Game of Thrones (I had no idea I would like this tv show so much!)

Inspiration #12

I was browsing Stockholm Streetstyle this morning and I stumbled upon what is my ultimate fall inspiration. Not to mention that I hadn't done an Inspiration post in a long while.

I've been obsessing over plaid, tweed and leather for this upcoming fall season and this picture sums it all up and more. I didn't expect that velvet could look so casual and chic at the same time; The colours are in absolute coordination and this would be just the outift I'd like to wear coming this new year of University so tally up some velvet for me 'cause this skirt has to be in my closet!

What are your fall inspirations and favourite trends?

I am lucky enough to have had the chance to travel around the world and to have seen quite a few beautiful places.
However, on my last trip I was completely enchanted by a teeny-tiny island, called Burano, less than an hour away from Venice. Most of you must have heard of it as its beauty is by no means hidden. Quite the contrary, tourists roam freely everywhere on the island. But its charm is nonetheless unspoiled. Its sister, Murano is well known for the beautiful (and expensive!) Murano glass but Burano's charm consists in nothing but itself. The beautifully painted buildings are a pleasure to be seen and the gelato is quite excellent. (We're in Italy after all). So if any of you guys go on holiday to Venice, do not, I repeat, DO NOT miss Burano. You'll love it!

Have a great Sunday, guys!

Today I got to think about milestones. It seems to me that we have recently lost our ability to filter through what is and what isn't important anymore. Or better yet, what SHOULD and what SHOULDN'T be important yet.

It is not rarely that I get excited on the high amount of likes I sometimes get on Instagram or the daily views on my blog. Back in December when I was administrating Deal for Hope (which I advice you to visit; it still refers to what should be a primary preoccupation of ours) I used to share every thousand views we got on Facebook. And don't get me wrong, Deal for Hope was a noble action that we started out of pure concern and interest in the matter. And if you haven't clicked on the link when you should have (click!click!click!) Deal for Hope is a blog I and a few former classmates of mine started in order to help disabled people and to adapt the surrounding environment to their needs. So, naturally, every view and every like meant that there were people listening to our concerns, people sharing our passion and interest in the matter.

However, today I celebrated two milestones. My name day and my 500th post on Instagram. And what is somehow sad is that I almost forgot about my name day in detriment to my Instagram post. That's worrying, me thinks! I don't want to plead for an anti-technology era because that would be idiotic and impractical.

There's so many things technology has helped us with. (see prosthetics, e-mails and Sex and The City) But, what I complain about is our way of balancing technology with our lives. Developing this blog has been incredible and I intend to continue on this path but on the other hand I wish I wouldn't forget about the days when I wouldn't feel the need to permanently check for my phone or the beautiful moments that don't need a tweet in order to be validated.

I hope I'm not blabbering, sounding like an old judgmental person but I think we should all have some phone-free, tech-free days. At least once a month, for the sake of our mental health.

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday to all of you that share my name: Maria! May you have a great day!

Venice by Night

There are very many things to do when in Venice by day but no one should skip experiencing Venice by night! There's no crazy parties and wild behaviour, quite the contrary; so if you prefer partying all day and night you might want to consider changing your destination. Don't get me wrong, you can party in Venice as well, but the options are limited. What is more, the charm of Venice doesn't consist in entertainment but in its calmness. Every night there are people enjoying a bottle of wine on the boardwalk and even on the inner canals. Every trattoria and osteria is full and the musicians in Piazza San Marco create a very enchanted atmosphere. And you might even be as lucky as I was to enjoy a beautiful dance from a talented couple, right in the middle of the Piazza.

The lovely thing about Venice is that nobody really cares what you do, everything is very relaxed which makes it the perfect getaway. And it is, of course, a very romantic place.

Venice Day 2: Outfit

What I love most when I'm travelling is that I always feel inspired by the places I see. Usually when I'm at home I find myself clueless about what to wear and lacking in creative ideas, but when I travel I'm always incredibly invigorated. The skirt I wore on our second day is one I probably wear really often and many times I feel sick and tired of it, even though I love it. However, when I was in Venice it felt so fresh and appropriate it seemed I hadn't worn it before. The look I chose was really casual because we did a lot of walking and sight-seeing. I did actually bring a pair of heels with me and tried to wear them one night but I gave up because they just didn't feel right. Venice is all about casual, romantic and relaxed.

Venice Day 2: Piazza San Marco

Today's post is all about Piazza San Marco. This is where we spent most of our second day in Venice and it was incredibly beautiful! We visited the Dodge's Palace, San Marco's Basilica and the Clock Tower. It took us quite a while to visit all three of them as the lines were really long. (However, they were totally worth the visit)

Now You See Me

I know I'm way late on the bandwagon here but I just came from the cinema three minutes ago and I saw "Now You See Me" and loved it so much it was impossible not to write a post about it! There's another post coming tomorrow morning as well but I just couldn't wait to post this one as well!

Venice Day 1

Ok, so let me just say that choosing from thousands of beautiful pictures, editing them and finally putting together a post is so much more difficult than I'd imagined. I honestly didn't think it would take me this long but I finally managed to finish my Venice posts. I alternated fashion oriented posts with travelling oriented ones in trying to stay true to my content and combine fashion and travelling as well as I could.
This is the first post of the series, so enjoy!
