What's Your Word?

DSC_08351I remember that in 5th grade the so-called "memory books" were all the rave. In case you're wondering, "memory books" were notebooks where children would write questions about love, friendship and whatever else they wanted and then they would give them to their friends to fill them up. Some of the questions were quite cheeky (especially if you had to write the name of your crush, who, most often, would also fill in the notebook). Those were first world problems, if you would have asked my 13 year old self.
Anyway, I'm digressing. One of the most asked questions in these eccentric notebooks of ours was "Describe me in one word" which has lately strengthened an idea I've been concocting for some while.
Are we all searching for that one word that defines us? And most importantly: Is there one word that could define each of us?
I've come to think that my word is "Interesting". Somehow, most people tend to describe me that way. Or at least my best friend does, and I tend to value her opinion quite a lot. But is it "interesting" something I can deal with? Is it the word I want to have? What is more, do I have any saying in which is my word, or do I simply have to deal with it? By chance, I happen to really like interesting. When I was little I had a friend whose word was clearly "Beautiful". Everyone thought she was beautiful and, most importantly, everyone knew she was beautiful. I don't know if everyone would have thought her word was "beautiful", but somehow, everyone took it for granted that it was. Back in those days I was a bit jealous, but mostly sad because my word couldn't be beautiful as well. I've never been a very self-confident person and being "beautiful" was never on my list, I was rather "smart" or "funny".
Nowadays, I've settled with "interesting" and I really love it. I'd rather be interesting than beautiful. I don't know what mistery lies in beauty, but I think there's definitely something appealing about "interesting".

Anyway, have you every thought about your word?

Inspiration #11

Funnily enough, these days I've been trying to balance two trends that I've been really into lately:
1. Basic silhouettes like black t-shirts and washed out jeans, adding a little something with bolder accessories
2. Bright colours and prints.
I know, it's very contradictory and weird but that basically my style. One day I like to be as girly as possible and the next I take out my most ripped jeans
What are your favourite trends right now?
I do not own any of these photos.

P.S. I added the Ashley Olsen pic just because I've had a girl crush on the Olsen twins ever since I can remember.

I've never been very interested in beauty besides the basic make-up routine and some body-care products that I do or do not use regularly. Ever since I started my senior year though, I've become really addicted to having pamper nights and finding new ways of relaxing indoors.. Here are some of my favourite products at the moment and some that I haven't had the chance to try yet.

The first one on the left is an Estee Lauder nailpolish that I found during a little scavenger hunt through my cabinet. The other two I found at a random store in my town and I bought them for about 50 cents each. Obviously, I was more than a little concerned about how long they would last and unfortunately they lasted about a day, just what you would expect for 50c.
DSC_1061As for these Clinique chubby sticks, I have to say they are my utmost favourite items! When I saw the colours I really expected something very bright but both of them are very discrete and delicate, which makes them perfect for every occasion! The shades are "Oversized Orange" and "Woppin' Watermelon" and I strongly recommend them, as well as the rest of the line.

Leather and Denim

My favourite purchase of this season so far? My leather leggings, which I've been wearing as often as I can with almost every item in my wardrobe: shirts, t-shirts, jumpers and even dresses. As strange as it may sound these may be one of the most flattering pairs of pants that I own. Honestly, when I first saw them, I was convinced that they would just enhance every insecurity I have about my body. But, although they're super tight and they're black leather - not the most inconspicuous - I feel really casual in them. You can easily dress them down for day wear and then have a quick change for evening with some heels and a cute top. What do you guys think about leather leggings? Do you like how I combined them in this casual outfit?

DSC_1030On the same day I discovered a very cute street fair and decided to check out the array of jewellery and vintage glasses and I saw some really interesting stuff, starting with the brooches below.

I was wearing:
Zara vest
Zara denim jacket
Forever21 sweater
Asos leggings and boots
Musette bag
Marc by Marc Jacobs sunnies
